Claude Code
Claude Code connects to the Fedwright MCP server over HTTP. It was tested on Linux with Fedwright staging on 2026-10-22. It uses a pre-registered OAuth client named Claude Code, whose sign-in returns to port
33418 on your machine.
Keep that port free while you sign in.
Add the server
Section titled “Add the server”From the directory where you want the connection, run:
claude mcp add --transport http \ --callback-port 33418 \ --client-id 396252832577093860 \ fedwright-staging https://mcp-staging.fedwright.com/mcpThe command uses Claude Code’s default local scope. Add --scope user to make the connection
available in every project. The client ID is public. There is no secret to enter.
Start Claude Code, run /mcp, and choose the Fedwright server to sign in through the browser.
Approve the first request
Section titled “Approve the first request”Ask Claude Code to search Fedwright opportunities. The first call that needs an organization’s data doesn’t run. Claude Code shows an approval link as the tool’s error text, not as a native prompt:
- Open the link, and approve the access on
https://staging.fedwright.com. See approving a client’s access. - Ask Claude Code to try again.
Approvals are per client. Review or revoke them at
Account, MCP grants . After a revocation, the next call is refused until you approve again.
Things to know
Section titled “Things to know”- MCP use is counted in prompts for your organization. A call refused for a prompt or per-minute
limit returns an error that says which limit, how much is used, and when it resets. A call refused
because too many are running at once says
Too many Fedwright requests at once; retry.See Limits and errors. - The server tells the client to keep its tool list for one hour. After Fedwright adds or changes a tool, start a new Claude Code session to see it.
- The tool reference lists what Claude Code can ask Fedwright for.
